Good for making lots of short cuts in metal, small blade reduces hand fatigue, serrated blade, avail. at most hardware stores
For detailed cuts in lighter gauge metals, click the link to buy them from my friends, Linda & Opie O'Brien
For long straight cuts in sheet metal, easy to find at hardware stores (or Dad's garage, but ask him first!)
For turning nuts (as opposed to a screw driver)
Chain Nose Pliers are great for closing Bead Tips and crimping in tight places. Tapered tips, smooth jaws, and slightly rounded edges allow accurate crimping, shaping, and bending. A good tool for use with Artistic Wire and for wire wrapping.
A must for wire wrapping designers. Use quality Round Nose Pliers to form loops and curves. Use to round ends of Remembrance Memory Wire or to loop Artistic Wire for beading and wire wrapping designs.
Designed for making sharp bends and right angles in soft wire. Flat Nose Pliers can also grip flat objects, and work well for straightening bent wire.
The 300 model is my favorite blend of versatility and cost, look for variable speed motor, and go with the corded one rather than the battery powered, I'm just sayin'.
For drilling holes in glass, ceramic, and stone, use water or oil to keep the bit cool or you will burn up the diamonds and render the bit useless. Any good stained glass supplier will carry, or be able to order it.
I usually use either 90# or 140# Hot press has a smooth texture, cold press is rougher. Available at any art supply stores.
Initiates corrosion of metals, blackens most metals, shop around at stained glass suppliers for the best deal.
Can leave a coppery finish on many metals and looks really cool on hardware, shop around at stained glass suppliers for the best deal.
Why use glue when you can use a machine screw? Most of the time, I am using size 8-32, 6-32, or 2-56 (with accompanying hex nuts, of course) I also like to use the external tooth lock washers #12 and 1/4" size.
